    If a panacea for obesity and aging ever existed it would be the intentional act of controlling or lowering blood sugar (glucose) - not dieting. I should know. By getting my blood glucose under control I was able to descend from 30% body fat to a lean 10%. Adding to the benefit of being thin, this cure-all could obliterate heart disease, insulin resistance, type-2 diabetes, the symptoms of ADHD/ADD, and cancer.

    The importance of this health alert demands attention-the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) states that two-thirds of American adults are overweight or obese and that early death from diabetes is an epidemic. America is a graveyard. Most people are waiting to die comfortably with symptom-masking FDA-approved drugs. Logic dictates trash the Diet Coke, forget about your cholesterol-lowering drug and galvanize this alert into your brain.

    All substances are toxic, even water. The dose determines whether or not a given substance becomes a poison. This principle was established by Paracelsus in 1500 A.D. and applies to glucose and insulin.

    Glucose can be considered the spark that ignites your energy fire. Insulin is the match. As glucose enters your bloodstream, insulin is released from the pancreas. Insulin shuttles glucose and other nutrients into the cells of your body. When controlled, these substances are life enhancing.

    If not controlled, glucose and insulin can become toxic. Let me explain.

    A large amount of sugar (sucrose, high glycemic index carbohydrates and fruit juice) intake leads to excessive insulin production (referred to as the insulin spike). Just like college students build tolerance to alcohol, the excess insulin "numbs" your cells. Cells no longer react to insulin. This is termed insulin resistance and more recently Syndrome X.

    Not able to gain entry into your cells, glucose (and many other nutrients) floats in your bloodstream with nowhere to go. Recognizing the constant flow of glucose, the pancreas continues to release insulin. Glucose and insulin become poisonous. Havoc sets in.

    Most alarming, insulin inhibits your ability to burn fat by blocking "thermogenesis." Thermogenesis is your God-given right to be thin. It is the process by which your body rids itself of fat by converting it to heat (rather than the energy producing molecule ATP).

    High insulin suffocates thermogenesis. This is true regardless of exercise and/or diet; tattoo this fact onto your brain. Have you ever met someone who exercised daily and never lost fat?

    Those who suffer from the negative side effect of low or no thermogenesis due to excess sugar intake will become slaves to an out-of-control biochemical nightmare. In most cases, this nightmare is not reversible. Unable to awaken from it, it is characterized by:

      1. Constant sugar cravings

      2. Unquenchable thirst

      3. Excess urination

      4. Continued fat gain (has your body fat percentage been climbing over the years?)

      5. Moodiness

      6. Low energy

    As predictably as your family doctor erroneously prescribes Lipitor for prevention of heart disease, these symptoms will manifest into obesity, then insulin resistance, followed by Type-2 diabetes, heart disease, cancer and eventually early death. Believe it.

    Because heart disease is a top killer, logic says that understanding its relation to excess glucose is paramount. Unable to be absorbed by our cells, excess glucose in the blood stream can cause heart disease for its ability to become "oxidized" (explaining the importance of using "antioxidants"). This oxidation leads to a change in the molecular structure of glucose - causing what is known as advanced glycation end products or AGE-products. These damaging molecules are the result of glucose reacting with amino acids in the blood.

    Like a knife carving clay, AGE-products scar arterial walls. The scarring results in plague buildup. The excessive plaque buildup will eventually clog the arteries, leading to heart attack and/or stroke. This mechanism is why diabetics have a 4.5 times increase of suffering from heart attack and stroke relative to non-diabetics - they have EXCESS glucose in the bloodstream. AGE-products cause a myriad of negative outcomes. They are blindness (this explains blindness in diabetics and the elderly), age spots on the skin and osteoarthritis just to name a few.

    Forget about "Band-Aid" drugs and make a decision to lower glucose - naturally. This can be done by adhering to BOTH lifestyle and nutritional habits. After all, habits create and eradicate disease, not prescription drugs.
